Background on why you need to blueprint your rear brake calipers:
Speed secrets shouldn't only be reserved for the front runners, and until recently they were. As Spec Miata specialists, we strive to offer every part or service for our customers cars, and blueprinting your rear brake calipers is one of the newest speed secrets to hit the community. When we blueprint your brake calipers, we remove the automatic parking brake adjuster located deep inside the inner workings of your brake caliper body. This parking brake mechanism automatically adjusts the gap between your rear brake pads and rotors as your brake pads wear down. It is meant to keep the parking brake handle from having to be pulled up so high to engage your parking brakes on street cars by keeping the pads close as they wear over time. This part has no use on a race car as they do not use parking brakes, and above everything it causes brake drag as it does not allow the brake pads to release as fast as they are able to. It has been proven to free up horsepower as you are decreasing rolling resistance by eliminating brake drag, and from our personal experiences with the mechanism removed, we have found that our mid-corner speeds have increased noticeably. When you trail off and release the brakes while entering a corner, your car will almost feel as if it shoots forward, which really showed us how much the rear brakes were dragging before we did the modification. It's worth it, and just another addition to your car to bring it closer to the front!
