The Toyo RA1 has been the Spec Tire for SCCA and NASA Spec Miata racing for every year except 2009, in which they tried the R888 tire. The SCCA and NASA have switched back to the RA1 for 2010 and beyond, so start building up your tire spares for the next season! The RA1 is a great tire when shaved, it lasts a long time and has great grip characteristics. When used full tread, it is noticeably slower but will last a long time. It is recommended to use the full tread RA1 for rain use only when in a racing environment if lap times are important to you.
