Part of our expertise in racing Miata's for years is that we learned a few tricks in how to rebuild expensive parts instead of buying new stuff every time something needed serviced. One of the parts that we got really good at rebuilding is brake calipers.
Our brake caliper service has a few options, please read carefully before you choose your options upon ordering above. Here are the details of our calipers:
It is best to send us a set of calipers from your car or spares bin, but if you do not want to send the calipers off of your car we do have pre-built cores that you can purchase at an additional cost by choosing the "use our cores" option, but please be aware that we do not carry a large stock of cores and the availability of them can be uncertain at best depending on the local used market. If we do not have any cores ready to go, you will not be able to choose the "use our cores" optionOur cores can be OEM originals or aftermarket replacements depending on the cores we get from our used parts suppliers. We've been through both styles of caliper and they are both built well, and after we perform our blueprinting it really doesn't matter. If you would like your calipers rebuilt, please choose the "send us your cores" option and let us know that you want us to use your cores for the rebuild, otherwise we will send a set that is ready to go and use your cores as replacementsThere is a lot to know about what you get with our brake service, here are the details on what's included:
We take a used set of calipers, completely disassemble them to the bare components and clean them thoroughly, restore them to a nicer than factory finishAfter we restore all of the components to better than OEM quality, we apply some special blueprinting techniques to the inner workings of the caliper, including the piston surfaces and guide pins (if supplied and if in stock)When we reassemble the calipers, we use a Mazda OEM seal kit to replace the seals on the caliper (piston seal and piston dust seal, not the guide pin dust seals)On top of all of the techniques and better than OEM quality rebuild, we apply a special rust inhibiting treatment to the entire caliper to treat the metal and buy you some time with a nice factory finish!
