Is your Miata's shifter sloppy? It is most likely one of the two cheap plastic bushings that locate the shifter within the transmission housing. This bushing is the small dime sized cup that installs on the very bottom of the shifter. If you pull your shifter up out of the housing and one of these is NOT on the bottom of the shifter, then it is broken. This is the cheapest thing you can do to your old Miata to make it more fun to drive!
We also sell the "other" plastic part on your shifter base, which cannot really be described well... We call it: "The Anti Rotation Bushing" (it's for the groove on the shifter pivot)!
